CommunityLink

Connecting People. Supporting New Beginnings.

The Sinhalese Cultural Centre (SCC) CommunityLink Program connects community members who are willing to offer voluntary services or essential goods with individuals and families who need support.

CommunityLink particularly assists newly arrived migrants as they settle into Australia, but support is available to anyone within our broader community.

There are many ways you can get involved:

  • Offer voluntary services

  • Donate goods

  • Receive services or essential items

  • Contribute to managing the program

  • Make a financial donation to support the program’s sustainability

Offer Voluntary Services

You can support fellow community members by offering voluntary services aligned with your skills, experience, and interests.

Examples of services include:

  • Justice of the Peace (JP) services

  • Job search assistance and resume guidance

  • Mentoring for starting a small business

  • Digital literacy support for seniors

  • Information sessions on financial literacy, superannuation, or wellbeing

  • And many more

To offer services, register on the CommunityLink Web Portal as a “Vendor” and publish the services you wish to provide. You may offer one or multiple services.

A single registration allows you to both offer services and request assistance if needed.

Instructions for using the Web Portal are available under Resources & Support – OzLanka – CommunityLink.

If you require further assistance, please contact us via Contact Us – OzLanka – CommunityLink.

Donate Goods

You can donate new or gently used essential household items to support individuals and families in need.

Examples include:

  • Furniture

  • White goods (e.g., refrigerators, washing machines)

  • Kitchenware

  • Garden equipment

  • Other essential household items

Register on the CommunityLink Web Portal as a “Vendor” to list the goods you are offering. You may list multiple items.

Your single registration also enables you to request services or goods if needed.

Receive Services or Essential Goods

CommunityLink works best when community members both give and receive support.

If you require assistance, you are encouraged to register and request available services or goods. Receiving donated items not only supports individuals and families but also promotes environmental sustainability by reducing waste and encouraging reuse.

We request everyone to be recipient of Goods or Services! — CommunityLink exists to strengthen our community through mutual assistance.

Get Involved in Managing the CommunityLink Program

Community members can actively contribute to the development and management of CommunityLink.

Opportunities include:

  • Managing and further developing the CommunityLink Web Portal
(for members with web development, IT, or graphic design skills)

  • Organising and delivering in-person information sessions such as:

    • “Essentials to Start a Small Business”

    • “Preparing for Retirement and Understanding Superannuation”

    • “Mental Health – Important to All of Us”

    • “Digital Literacy for Seniors”

If you have professional expertise or organisational skills and would like to contribute, we welcome your involvement. Please offer your support via Contact Us – OzLanka – CommunityLink.

Make a Financial Donation

The establishment of the CommunityLink Program was supported by Multicultural NSW, part of the Government of New South Wales.

While the program is largely managed by volunteers, ongoing operational costs include:

  • Web portal development and maintenance

  • Hosting expenses

  • Software licensing

  • Venue hire for community sessions

  • Administrative and program coordination costs

Your financial contribution helps ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of CommunityLink.
