Terms and Conditions - CommunityLink Program

1. Introduction

The CommunityLink Program (“the Program”) is an initiative of The Sinhalese Cultural Centre Limited (“SCC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), designed to connect community members who are offering voluntary services or donating essential goods with those in need of such assistance (“users”, “you”, or “your”).

By accessing or using the Program—whether through our website, email, or in person—you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

2. Purpose

The Program aims to:

  • Facilitate connections between Voluntary Service Providers and Service Recipients;
  • Facilitate the donation and re-use of essential goods between Goods Donors and Goods Recipients; and
  • Strengthen community support, inclusion, and sustainability.

3. Eligibility

Participation in the Program is open to all individuals and organisations within the community who:

  • Are at least 18 years of age (or have parental/guardian consent if younger);
  • Provide accurate, truthful, and up-to-date information when registering or engaging with the Program; and
  • Comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations of New South Wales, Australia.

4. Registration and Participation

Participants may register through the SCC website or via direct contact with SCC representatives.
SCC reserves the right to:

  • Verify participant details where necessary;
  • Decline or remove a participant or listing that breaches these Terms or is inconsistent with the objectives of the Program; and
  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Program without prior notice.

5. Voluntary Services

Voluntary Service Providers offer their time and skills on a goodwill basis. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Justice of the Peace (JP) services
  • Supplementary mental health support
  • Support for new mothers
  • Job search assistance
  • Small business guidance
  • Other community support services

All service providers are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary qualifications, licences, and clearances (where applicable). SCC does not independently verify credentials unless otherwise stated.

6. Goods Donations

Goods Donors may offer new or gently used items such as:

  • Furniture
  • White goods (e.g. refrigerators, washing machines)
  • Garden equipment
  • Other essential household items

Donors must ensure all items are safe, clean, functional, and suitable for use.
SCC does not guarantee pickup, delivery, or the condition of any goods exchanged through the Program.

7. Role of SCC

SCC acts solely as a facilitator connecting parties. SCC:

  • Does not act as an agent, broker, or guarantor for any service or goods exchange;
  • Is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or suitability of any goods or services provided or received; and
  • Encourages all participants to exercise reasonable care, discretion, and mutual respect in their interactions.

8. Code of Conduct

All participants agree to:

  • Act respectfully, honestly, and fairly in all dealings;
  • Avoid discrimination, harassment, or unlawful behaviour;
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of others; and
  • Report any misconduct, safety concerns, or inappropriate behaviour to SCC immediately.

9. Privacy and Data Handling

SCC is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Personal information collected through the Program will be used solely for the purpose of facilitating connections and administering the Program.
Participants may request access to or correction of their personal information by contacting SCC directly.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • SCC is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from participation in the Program, including any services or goods provided or received;
  • Participants engage with one another at their own risk; and
  • The Program is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind.

11. Amendments

SCC may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be published on the SCC website and take effect immediately upon posting. Continued participation constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
